YANCHEP and Gingin residents are reminded all dogs were to be microchipped by November 1.
In 2013 the Barnett Government took a tougher approach to dog attacks and dog control under new legislation introduced into State Parliament.
The Dog Amendment Bill included mandatory microchipping for all dogs, higher penalties for all offences and specifically targeted dangerous dogs, irrespective of their breed.
Local governments also have stronger provisions to deal with barking dogs.
Under the legislation, from November 1, 2013 all new pet dogs were to be microchipped.
But dog owners were allowed until November 1 this year to microchip all other pet dogs.
When introducing the legislation the State Government said the cost of microchipping dogs would typically be between $45 and $70.
Local Government Minister Tony Simpson said there were about 280,000 homes in WA with at least one dog.
