Bushfire advice for Nowergup

A BUSHFIRE advice has been issued for residents near Wanneroo Rd and Wattle Ave West in Nowergup.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) alert issued at 6.24am on Sunday, February 11 said the cause of the bushfire, which started near Lake Rd and Wattle Ave West, was unknown.

The alert said 20 bushfire service and parks and wildlife service firefighters were at the scene and aerial support had been sent to help them.

There is a lot of smoke in the area but no threat to lives or homes however, residents are advised to keep up-to-date in case the situation changes.

The alert advised residents to close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air-conditioners but to keep water running through the system if possible.

DFES said the next update would be provided by 11am unless the situation changed.
