Carjacking and robbery in Yanchep

WA Police need information about a carjacking and a robbery in Yanchep on Saturday, March 11.

WA Police are investigating a carjacking on Village Row in Yanchep and a robbery Yanchep Liquor Barons in the same street not long afterwards.

A police spokeswoman said about 5.40pm on Saturday, March 10 two men approached the occupants of a vehicle that was stationary on Village Row.

“One of the men leaned into the car and punched the front passenger to the face before opening the door and getting into the passenger side of the car,’’ she said.

“The man punched the driver several times and pulled on the steering wheel while the car was moving.

“The car struck a light pole on the corner of Village Row and Marmion Ave.’’

She said police believe a short time later the same men entered a liquor store located on Village Row and stole some alcohol before fleeing on foot.

They were last seen running towards the roundabout on Yanchep Beach Rd.

A resident who contacted Yanchep News Online said when she was driving back into Yanchep about 5.40pm Marmion Ave was clear.

When she returned about 10 minutes later a vehicle had crashed into a lamp post on Marmion Ave outside the Woolworths car park.
