DFES says 150 firefighters are attending a bushfire north of Yanchep with parts of Neergabby, Woodridge and Wilbinga on watch and act.

The bushfire watch and act is in place for people in the area bounded by Indian Ocean Dr, Croot Pl across to Chitna Rd, Military Rd and Wabling Rd in parts of Neergabby, Woodridge and Wilbinga in the Shire of Gingin.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes as the fire is approaching the area and conditions were changing.

The fire started near the intersection of Chitna Rd, which has now been closed to traffic except for people who need to leave the area.

A DFES spokeswoman said people on Chitna Road could leave west to Indian Ocean Dr or east to Military Rd and head in a northerly direction if it was safe to do so.

A bushfire advice is in place for people in the area bounded by west of Indian Ocean Dr, Barragoon Rd, Caraban Rd, Gingin Brook Rd, Military Rd and north of Chitna Rd and Croot Pl including the Woodridge estate in parts of Neergabby, Woodridge and Caraban.

The fire was reported at 11.40am and by 12.27pm crews from Gingin West and Gingin South were already on the scene with the DFES spokeswoman saying air support was also on the way.
