THE Yanchep Two Rocks Community Bus is likely to be transferred to a sub-committee under the legal entity of a well-known community association if City of Wanneroo councillors approve an officer’s recommendation at tomorrow’s June 14 ordinary meeting.

The community bus helps elderly residents get to doctor appointments, do their shopping and go on outings so they remain part of the community.

For about the past 15 years Yanchep resident Julie Otremba has been chairwoman of the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Bus (YTRCB) committee although she has been a committee member right from the start.

The officer’s report said the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association (YTRCRA) and the YTRCB management committee have a longstanding relationship and have been in discussions regarding a future merger (subject to the City of Wanneroo providing the YTRCB service a five-year financial and in-kind contribution to assist their transition towards independence).

“As part of a transition of the YTRCB service from the city, the assets (bus and monetary balance of the Yanchep Bus Reserve) will require transfer of ownership to the new entity,’’ the report said.

The report said at its meeting held on February 10, the committee moved that the YTRCB management committee support a future merger with YTRCRA.

YTRCRA with support of their committee, have subsequently amended their constitution to support this arrangement with both organisations agreeing to the formation of a YTRCB sub-committee with delegated authority under the YTRCRA rules.

The City of Wanneroo’s administration has supported both parties through the process and will continue with governance and capacity building support.

Completion of a merger between YTRCRA and the current YTRCB committee is expected by June 30 including the establishment of the Sub-Committee’s terms of reference.
