From lifesaving to soccer, connecting Alkimos for better

OPTICOMM has recently thrown its support behind two of Alkimos’ sporting and community associations – Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) and Alkimos Football Club (FC).

Australia’s largest independent provider of wholesale broadband, Opticomm focuses on supporting community outcomes as well as connectivity to households throughout Alkimos and other suburbs in Western Australia.

Connecting lifesavers

In addition to supporting the amazing work of Alkimos SLSC through its support of The Nippers, Opticomm has also backed the Alkimos SLSC registration day and the club’s youth uniform.

Opticomm has also recently come on board as sponsor of the Alkimos SLSC Inflatable Rescue Boat competition team.

Taking the partnership to another level, late last year the Opticomm team worked with the club to ensure they had the infrastructure in place to get connected to Opticomm’s fast fibre, with the club simply needing to choose their internet provider and pick a plan.

According to Louise Nicholls, Director of Education and Youth Co-ordinator at Alkimos SLSC, having a consistent, reliable internet connection is a huge relief.

“Especially in times of emergency and rescue, knowing we can be online when it counts is a massive win,” said Louise Nicholls.

“Our volunteers are often at the club daily, so being connected and not relying on mobile data makes it easier for them to do things like organise Club Life Saving operations, Nippers programs, club requirements, weekly training sessions and monitor risk assessments.”

Kicking goals

With the soccer season in full swing, Opticomm also renewed its sponsorship of Alkimos FC, a community club dedicated to nurturing local football talent.

This sponsorship helps more young players take the field, make friends and learn great skills of camaraderie and support that are invaluable in all walks of life.

Daniel Roates, Chief Revenue Officer, Opticomm commented that local associations are the social lifeblood of communities.

“Alkimos SLSC and Alkimos FC are true hubs of community engagement, providing sporting and social connections for people of all ages,” said Daniel.

“We’re proud to play a small part in supporting such amazing organisations and look forward to watching them thrive in 2024.”
