THE City of Wanneroo will receive $125,000 from the McGowan Government to provide safe beach access near Sovereign Dr at Two Rocks.

Butler MLA John Quigley said the coastline was an integral part of the lifestyle in the electorate of Butler.

“I am committed to doing all I can to protect our coastal amenities, repair coastal erosion and to work closely with Mayor Tracey Roberts and the City of Wanneroo,’’ he said.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the coastal adaptation and protection grants program helped foster a stronger partnership with local governments.

It also provided other support including the provision of coastal engineering guidance through the Department of Transport’s specialists.

“The 10 local projects funded in the latest round are vital in gaining a better understanding of coastal processes and ensuring that public assets are protected from the impacts of ocean forces in the future,” she said.

The City of Wanneroo will receive the biggest share of the $756,540 available to help it fund two urgent projects – it will also receive $299,212 for the construction of a 60m rock groyne at Queenscliff Park at Quinns Beach.
