Aaron Cook, who is the chief executive officer at the Shire of Narrogin, has been chosen to replace Jeremy Edwards at the Shire of Gingin.

THE Shire of Gingin has appointed a new chief executive officer.

President Sam Collard said Aaron Cook, who is the chief executive officer at the Shire of Narrogin, has been chosen to replace Jeremy Edwards.

Cr Collard said Mr Cook had more than 25 years of country and metropolitan local government experience.

He said Mr Cook, who prior to his time at Narrogin was chief executive at the Shire of Gnowangerup, was the best person to take the Shire of Gingin to the next level.

“While the number and quality of candidates was extremely high, Aaron really stood out with his extensive country local government management experience, and strong negotiating and people skills,’’ he said.

“The council unanimously supported his appointment and we look forward to welcoming Aaron and his family into our community.”

Mr Cook takes up his role with the Shire of Gingin in June.
