THE Treasure Trove@Gingin is nominated in the Western Australian Community Achievement Awards.
The Gingin community op shop is an entrant in the Woolworths community group of the year category.
Gingin resident Mary Cameron, who nominated the op shop in the awards, said the group of volunteers was an invaluable asset to the community – economically, socially and environmentally.
She said the op shop had even been a stopover for bus groups on “Op Shop Tours”.
The community group puts a lot of money back into the community by way of grants and donations and is a social hub for many.
They also indirectly have a working relationship with the men’s shed on occasions.
The Western Australian Community Achievement Awards aims to encourage, acknowledge and reward the valuable contributions individuals, communities and businesses are making throughout regional and rural Western Australia.
The awards recognise and pay tribute to their achievements, which contribute to making regional Western Australia a better community.
Judging for the awards takes place on September 7 with the award presentations on October 21.
4/9/22 Editor’s note: Yanchep News Online understands the group did not make the short-list for this year’s awards.
