Lancelin caravan park stopped

The Shire of Gingin says it will continue to try and find a site in Lancelin for a caravan park.

A MOVE by the Shire of Gingin to rezone land for a future caravan park has been thwarted by the State Government.

Shire President David Roe said on Monday, May 16 the Planning Minister Donna Faragher modified the Shire of Gingin local planning scheme No. 9, scheme amendment No. 4.

Cr Roe said the amendment was originally for the purpose of rezoning an area of land near Hopkins St, Lancelin from tourist zone and parks and recreation reserve to special use zone (caravan park).

“This rezoning will not proceed as the minister has determined that the area will now be a conservation reserve,’’ he said.

“The shire is continuing to work with State Government agencies on identifying a suitable site in Lancelin for a tourist accommodation park-caravan park.”
