THE Shire of Gingin in partnership with Tourism WA has advertised an expression of interest for the potential redevelopment of Lancelin South End Caravan Park.
Shire of Gingin President David Roe said on Saturday, October 1 the shire took over the management of the caravan park after many years of the park being leased by Esther Investments (BGC Developments).
Cr Roe said the first stage of submissions would be reviewed by the shire at the end of October.
He said it was hoped the shire would be able to enter into negotiations with a suitably qualified and experienced company for the redevelopment before June 30 next year.
“As an interim measure, the shire has appointed new managers and is undertaking some much needed improvements to the site,’’ he said. “These include new fencing, tree lopping, signage, landscaping, boom gates, and general maintenance such as lawn mowing.
“The Shire has already received positive feedback from tourists in relation to camping site accessibility as it continues to make more sites available for the forthcoming holiday season.
“The shire is also exploring the possibility of incorporating a portable camp kitchen on site to further improve amenity for tourists.’’
He said the shire would continue to keep the community informed of progress of the expression of interest as information came to hand.
