Man back in court after Yanchep assault

A young man is due back in court tomorrow after allegedly slashing another young man with a samurai sword near a park in Yanchep in October.

A YOUNG man charged after an alleged assault near Old Nursery Park in October is due back in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday, December 3.

The man, who was 18-years-old when he allegedly assaulted another teenager was charged by Joondalup detectives with intent to rob, intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of cannabis.

The 18-year-old man he allegedly assaulted was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the altercation at Yanchep Beach Rd and Frigate Cres intersection about 7pm on Monday, October 8.

A WA Police spokeswoman said the injured man had received a deep cut to a wrist during the incident.

After the alleged assault police officers spent some time examining a mulched area next to Yanchep Beach Rd.

The spokeswoman said the inquiry into the incident was continuing and anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au
