Joondalup detectives have charged an 18-year-old man after the alleged assault of another teenager near Old Nursery Park in Yanchep.

AN 18-year-old man has been charged after the alleged assault of another teenager near Old Nursery Park in Yanchep on Monday, October 8.

A WA Police spokeswoman said an 18-year-old had been charged by Joondalup detectives and Yanchep News Online understands the man had his first appearance in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday, October 12.

He is due back in court on Wednesday, October 17.

Detectives charged him with assault with intent to rob, intent to do grievous bodily harm and possession of cannabis.

The 18-year-old man he allegedly assaulted was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an altercation at Yanchep Beach Rd and Frigate Cres intersection about 7pm on Monday.

The spokeswoman said the injured man had received a deep cut to a wrist during the incident.

On Monday after the alleged assault police officers spent some time examining a mulched area next to Yanchep Beach Rd.
