WORK on the park land at Mary Lindsay Homestead will start in May with completion expected in June.
The City of Wanneroo recently completed the tender evaluations for the building and surrounding park land.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the surrounding public open space had been designed to ensure equal access for the community and included play equipment, barbeque facilities and plenty of space for gatherings.
Cr Roberts said the building refurbishment would be completed towards the end of the year.
“The refurbishment has been designed to promote the site with a community arts and culture hub,’’ she said.
“Two studios, a gallery and room for an artist-in-residence have been incorporated into the design, in consultation with Two Rocks Yanchep Culture and Arts Network.’’
The city successfully applied for a $750,000 grant from Lotterywest which will go towards funding the $3.6 million project.
