A MOTORCYCLIST, who was trying to evade police last night, tried to conceal his motorcycle behind some shrubs near the intersection of Hazel Ave and Robinson Ave in Quinns Rocks.

WA Police said about 7.10pm a police air wing flight crew onboard a police helicopter saw a motorcycle being ridden at what they will allege was high speed in the north bound lanes of Mitchell Fwy, near Cedric St.

A police spokesman said the motorcycle was monitored from the air as it travelled through several streets and suburbs.

“The rider stopped the motorcycle near the intersection of Hazel Ave and Robinson Ave, Quinns Rocks and appeared to attempt to conceal the motorcycle behind some shrubs,’’ he said.

“A police vehicle was sent in to intercept the rider, however it will be alleged the rider accelerated away, failing to stop for police.’’

The flight crew on board the police helicopter continued to monitor the motorcycle, allowing officers on the ground to again back away to a safe distance.

When the motorcyclist pulled into a service station at the corner of Burns Beach Rd and Sunlander Dr, Currambine the police air wing crew directed traffic enforcement group and regional operations group officers to move in and the rider was arrested without incident.
