A BUSHFIRE watch and act for a bushfire in the eastern part of Neerabup has been downgraded.

Instead a bushfire advice has been issued for people in the vicinity of Pedrick Rd and Old Yanchep Rd.

There is a no threat to lives or homes but residents need to remain aware and keep-up-to date in case the situation changes.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said the bushfire was reported at 4.50pm on Sunday, February 11.

At 7.31pm DFES said another 20 firefighters had joined the 30 career, volunteer fire and rescue service and bush fire service firefighters who were sent to the tackle the bushfire when it was first reported.

The alert said the cause of the bushfire, which was contained but not controlled, was unknown.

DFES advised residents to stay alert and monitor their surroundings.

  • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
  • Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
  • Read through your bushfire survival plan.
  • If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.

If driving be extremely careful when driving through the area, turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel.
A number of roads have been closed including Flynn Dr between Mathers Drive and the Wanneroo Golf Club.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.
