THE release of six new lots in Neerabup’s Meridian Park industrial estate will unlock more jobs and business opportunities in the area, according to the McGowan Government.

The release of the blocks – ranging in size from 3196sqm to 6874sqm –  by Development WA on June 3 has also created a second entrance to the industrial precinct from Flynn Dr.

A 9.98ha general industrial lot on Pederick Rd has also been released to market.

The government said the new land release unlocked $42 million in private investment and was expected to support 149 jobs during construction.

A further $110m in annual economic output and 299 ongoing jobs are expected, once businesses are fully operational.

The expansion of the industrial estate comes after Meridian Park was brought under the Industrial Lands Authority.

A key part of the government’s Plan for Jobs was the creation of the Industrial Lands Authority, to cut red tape and encourage local job creation.

The land release follows other construction activity at the estate, with a Main Roads depot, a commercial bakery, a food wholesaler and multiple industrial units now completed.

Wanneroo MLA Sabine Winton said the land release was an opportunity for businesses to expand and for jobs to be created in the northern suburbs and she expected it would create significant interest.

The Neerabup Industrial Area has been designed to meet the business needs of Perth’s fast-growing northern corridor for the next 30 to 50 years, and is expected to ultimately generate up to 20,000 new employment opportunities.
