Neerabup rubbish fire contained and controlled

A FIRE in Neerabup, which yesterday resulted in a HAZMAT alert, is now contained and controlled.

At 8.52am the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said people north and south of Flynn Dr in Neerabup, Carramar and Banksia Grove would no longer be affected by smoke.

A DFES spokesman said the fire had involved scrap cars and rubbish and damaged an excavator.

He said firefighters would monitor the fire for the rest of the day.

Twenty-six firefighting appliances went to the fire, which was reported at 12.10pm with crews from Butler, Wangara, Wanneroo, Joondalup, Malaga, Duncraig, Bullsbrook and Belmont attending.
