THE new Shire of Gingin President is Ian (Sam) Collard and the new deputy president is John Elgin.

The shire held an official swearing-in ceremony at a special council meeting on Tuesday, October 24.

James Morton, Kim Rule, Jacqui Lobb and Frank Johnson were elected to fill the council’s four vacancies in this year’s local government election held on Saturday, October 21.

The new councillors made their declarations of office before Justice of the Peace Margaret Greenwell at the meeting.

Shire President David Roe and councillor Sandra Smiles chose not to nominate for the council this year.

Councillor Michael Aspinall and councillor Val Ammon were not re-elected.
