A new school to be built on Sunningdale Rd will cater for students from kindergarten to Year 6.

A NEW primary school to cater for 430 students will be built in Yanchep on Sunningdale Rd in St Andrews estate.

One of  five new schools the McGowan Government announced on Wednesday, December 5 the Sunningdale Rd school is expected to open in 2021 for students from kindergarten to Year 6.

Construction of the new $17.3 million Sunningdale Primary School (planning name) is due to start in late 2019.

The new school will have a dedicated teaching block for kindergarten and pre-primary classes as well as three classroom buildings, which will include a specialised art and craft room.

A covered assembly area with a canteen and music room will be part of the development, in addition to a library resource centre, staff and conference room and administration building.

There will also be an oval and hard courts for sports and staff and parent parking.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery Western Australia’s young families needed quality local schools to give children the best start in life so they could have every opportunity to achieve.

“We are committed to providing children with a high-quality education by providing the latest technology and modern facilities to support their learning,’’ she said.

Premier Mark McGowan said the new schools coming online would help create new WA jobs through infrastructure, upgrades and maintenance and will provide a boost to the local economy.
