The new school in Alkimos is due to open at the start of 2022.

A NEW school in Alkimos to be called Shorehaven Primary School is on track to open at the start of next year, according to Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery.

Ms Ellery said the community was consulted on three potential names with Shorehaven Primary School being the popular choice.

When complete, the school will have permanent capacity for 650 students and will ease pressure on enrolments at surrounding primary schools in Perth’s growing northern corridor.

The school is named after its location on Shorehaven Blvd.

It is planned to be one of the bigger primary schools in Perth and will feature two double-storey teaching blocks among its buildings.

The $26.4 million school will cater for students from kindergarten to Year 6.
