A WASTEWATER infrastructure upgrade, including a new pressure main along Two Rocks and Yanchep Beach roads, expected to start earlier this year is still not approved.
In late August last year the Water Corporation wrote to residents advising them the infrastructure upgrade was necessary to cater for the disposal of increased wastewater flows in the City of Wanneroo.
This week Water Corporation spokeswoman Clare Lugar said the utility was continuing the approvals process for the proposed wastewater pipeline route.
“We expect work to start later this year and will provide an update to local residents about the specific start date once the approvals process has been completed,’’ she said.
The proposed project involves the installation of a new 7.6km wastewater main along Two Rocks Rd and a new wastewater pump station at Charnwood Ave, Two Rocks.
“This new infrastructure will cater for growth in the area and service the Atlantis Beach development along Breakwater Dr.’’
Last year the utility said the work would include two belowground emergency overflow storage tanks, connections to new and existing pump stations and internal upgrades to the Abrolhos Close pump station.
The proposal includes a 250mm diameter pressure main for 6.4km along Two Rocks and Yanchep Beach roads and a 200mm diameter pressure main 1.2km along Two Rocks Rd and 450mm and 300mm diameter main sewers connecting to the new and existing pump stations.
