A BUSHFIRE advice is still in place for parts of Nowergup after firefighters got a fire there contained and under control earlier today.

The bushfire advice is for people in an area bounded by Wesco Rd, Hopkins Rd, Gibbs Rd and McLennan Rd after a bushfire started near the intersection of Wesco Rd and Hopkins Rd.

At 11.27am the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said firefighters were on the scene, actively fighting the fire, which was reported at 1.08am.

DFES said although there was no immediate danger people needed to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changed.

The City of Wanneroo is managing the bushfire and next update will be provided by 4pm today unless the situation changes.

Meanwhile, a total fire ban has been declared for the City of Wanneroo and the Shire of Gingin.
