Nowergup bushfire suspicious

A BUSHFIRE near Wanneroo Rd and Wattle Ave West in the southern part of Nowergup has been deemed to be suspicious.

A bushfire advice issued at 10.02am on Sunday, February 11 said some roads, including Wattle Ave West (only open to local residents) and Dayrell Rd have been closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area but if they are in the area to be aware of firefighters working in the area, reduce their speed and drive carefully due to smoke in the area.

The bushfirefire, which is moving slowly in a north easterly direction, was reported at 3.54am this morning and so far has burnt 1ha of land.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious behavior to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The City of Wanneroo is now managing the bushfire.

DFES said the next update would be provided by 4pm unless the situation changed.
