THE McGowan Government yesterday committed $300,000 for an upgrade of a section of Old Yanchep Rd as part of a Yanchep National Park upgrade announced on August 14.
In Yanchep National Park gets the green light it was reported that in July a Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions spokeswoman said in 2020-21 the department planned to upgrade corners along the 1.2km section of the road it controlled but at tht stage a budget had not been allocated.
Yesterday the McGowan Government said in a statement the Old Yanchep Rd funding was through the tourist road improvement program.
Premier Mark McGowan and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti also said procurement for some major projects had been streamlined to get works off the ground and workers onsite as soon as possible.
These projects include the Mitchell Fwy to Romeo Rd Extension, expected to create 1200 jobs with early works planned for January 2021 and contract award due in October (three months early and with a $215 million budget).
It also includes widening of the Mitchell Fwy from Hodges Dr to Hepburn Ave expected to create 530 jobs with early works planned for January 2021 and contract award in October (three months ahead of schedule and a $76m budget).
