COVERS of songs by Australian songwriters are part of the entertainment that will be available at the Australia Day Breakfast in Two Rocks on Thursday, January 26.
Singer Danica Guest said she had been asked to sing songs by Australian artists.
“Two of my favourites that I’ll be performing are Scar by Missy Higgins and Riptide by Vance Joy,’’ she said.
For children attending the free annual event run by the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association (YTRCRA) there will be a merry go round provided by Air-Born Amusements and outdoor games as well as colouring for the little ones.
The full cooked breakfast with bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes, baked beans, juice, tea and coffee, fruit and a small variety of cereals is served to residents by volunteers.
At 10am the annual awards – citizen, youth and group of the year – will be presented.
This year Pearce MHR Tracey Roberts is sponsoring and presenting the group award.
The youth award will be sponsored by Yanchep Sun City and the citizen award will be sponsored by YTRCRA – both awards will be presented by Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken.
Held at the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre on Lisford Ave the community event runs from 8am to 11am.
The late Mr Renkin was the founder of YTRCRA.
This year marks the 21st anniversary of the community awards but the annual Australia Day Breakfast itself has been running for more than 30 years.
