A workshop to learn more about a review of local government will be held at the City of Wanneroo council chambers on November 15.

YANCHEP and Butler residents can attend a workshop to learn more about a review of local government, which includes a focus on disclosing gifts.

The Department of Local Government and Communities is releasing a consultation paper for phase one of the review of the Local Government Act 1995.

The consultation paper is due to be launched on Wednesday, November 8 and will be available online for public comment.

Phase one of the review will focus on four key areas including electronic availability of information, meeting public expectations of accountability (including disclosing gifts), meeting community expectations of standards, ethics and performance and building capacity through reducing red tape.

Ratepayers and residents can learn more about the review and topics included in the consultation paper at a workshop to be held at the City of Wanneroo council chambers, 23 Dundebar Rd, Wanneroo on Wednesday, November 15 from 6pm to 8pm.

Local governments and the community have been invited to have their say throughout the consultation period with a discussion paper for the first phase planned for release later this year.
