A RECENT story Future Whiteman Yanchep Hwy planning review underway about a planning review of the northern section of the future Whiteman Yanchep Hwy included crash data for the Pipidinny Rd and Wanneroo Rd intersection.
In the August 6 story in response to questions from Yanchep News Online Main Roads WA said in the five years to December 31, 2025 there had been 12 reported crashes at the Pipidinny Rd and Wanneroo Rd intersection.
A reader correctly pointed out that the Pipidinny Rd and Wanneroo Rd intersection had been closed for part of that five-year period so Yanchep News Online asked Main Roads if they could provide a year-by-year breakdown of crash data for the intersection over that five-year period.
Main Roads said in 2021 there was one reported crash at the intersection and that one required medical attention.
In 2022, there was no reported crashes.
In 2023 there were three reported crashes, one required hospitalisation and two that resulted in property damage.
In 2024 there were two reported crashes, one required hospitalisation, one needed medical attention.
In 2025 there were six reported crashes, two that required hospitalisation, one that needed medical attention and three that resulted in property damage.
Reports by Yanchep News Online show that the Pipidinny Rd and Wanneroo Rd intersection was closed for about 20 months during that five-year period.
New date for temporary closure of Pipidinny Rd, July 13, 2021 reported that from August 2, 2021 Pipidinny Rd users would need to use Hester Ave or Yanchep Beach Rd to access Wanneroo Rd while Pipidinny Rd was closed.
Then on April 4, 2023 Pipidinny Rd open again but with a reduced speed limit reported that Pipidinny Rd had re-opened with a 40km/h speed limit while Yanchep rail extension work continued.
