EVERY year there are some complaints about dust and sand caused by housing developments in the northern suburbs of the City of Wanneroo.
On Friday, September 28 the City of Wanneroo said it was once again stepping up its efforts to tackle sand and dust drift problems during the dry spring and summer months.
In a statement the city said in recent years it had been proactively working with developers to manage sand drift and the number of complaints from residents had significantly reduced.
The city did not provide any statistics but said it remained committed to ongoing strategies to reduce the impact of nuisance sand drift and dust and officers were performing weekly inspections and liaising with developers to implement their dust management strategies.
In line with the city’s compliance policy, enforcement action may be taken if remedial work to address reported problems is not actioned within 48 hours of a written instruction from the city.
Compliance officers can be contacted on 9405 5000 during office hours from Monday to Friday to investigate sand and dust problems, while the city rangers are available after hours, including Saturdays and Sundays, by phoning 1300 138 393.
