A SEARCH extending from Leeman to Guilderton and out to about 50 nautical miles offshore for a fisherman missing since Sunday was suspended this afternoon.

WA Police said the search for missing Waikiki man Ian Gray would finish at 5pm today – pending further information.

A police spokeswoman said during the four-day search about 3900 square nautical miles had been searched on multiple occasions by air, land and sea assets.

She said a report would now be prepared for the Coroner.

On Tuesday four vessels carried out a parallel search down the coast from north of Leeman and south to Grey on the inside of the reef and back along the outside of the reef.

On the same day SES personnel searched from Cervantes to Jurien Bay and Sandy Cape to Green Head.

Officers from the WA Police mounted section were deployed from Jurien Bay northern beach to the town foreshore and southern beaches of Jurien Bay and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority jet did an aerial search.

Police were first advised about 6.20pm on Sunday, July 24 that the 46-year-old man who had been fishing off Green Head was overdue.
