READY, get set, skate – Yanchep’s Splendid Park playing fields will welcome a new addition next year, in the form of a skate park designed with the local community.
With concept designs given the green light by Council in May and the project included in the City’s 2019/20 budget just last week, work on the highly-anticipated Splendid Park skate park is quickly coming together.
Construction is set to begin in December/January, with completion earmarked for mid-2020.
The total cost of the project is $680,000 with $450,000 funded by the State Government.
With the park designed in consultation with the local community, City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the Splendid Park skate park would be a wonderful addition to the area.
“We want this skate park to be accessible to all ages and abilities, presenting a unique challenge to seasoned skaters, but also fun for beginners,” Mayor Roberts said.
“This meant listening to what our community wanted and looking at how we could incorporate popular features into the design.
“The concept design has diverse features to allow use by a variety of skill levels, with a flowing style design and a mixture of obstacles, including mini ramp/mini bowl, box jumps and quarter pipes.”
