Sunshine for Gingin car day

The Dancing Fillies perform at the 2016 Gingin British Car Day.

GREAT weather added to the success of the 2016 Livelighter Gingin British Car Day.

By 7am stall holders were busy setting up their displays at Granville Park and about 9am the first display cars started rolling in.

The park was a hive of activity by mid-morning with the climbing wall popular and model ships and boats cruising the scenic pool.

Organiser Robert Brodie-Hall said the Storyville Jazz band entertained the crowd.

A lively demonstration of line dancing by the Dancing Fillies and an expertly  choreographed and costumed display by Roxannes Dance workshop drew a big crowd.

Mr Brodie-Hall said a record number of British cars filled the park and lined both sides of Jones St from Weld St to the Gingin Hotel while a record crowd enjoyed the event.

The Kalamunda Pipe Band made an impressive entrance, marching down Jones St and through the massed cars to the delight of the crowd,’’ he said.

He said the Gingin Men’s Shed members helped clean up after the event.
