Suspicious bushfire in pine plantation

AN all clear advice has been issued for people in the vicinity of Indian Ocean Dr near Yanchep pine plantation as the bushfire there has been contained and is now under control.

Firefighters will be monitoring the area for the rest of the day.

A bushfire advice was put in place for the area earlier today.

The cause of the bushfire, which started near the intersection of Obidos and Clover roads in Yanchep pine plantation, is suspicious so anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

An alert at 5.51am on Saturday, May 4 said the bushfire was reported at 4.33am and that the Parks and Wildlife service was managing the bushfire.

The alert said 8ha of land had been burnt and there was no threat to lives or homes although there was a lot of smoke in the area.

People still need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
