TRACEY Roberts, who is the Labor candidate for Pearce, has announced that if elected on May 21 an Albanese Labor government will deliver $250,000 to upgrade and expand the Quinns Rocks Sports Club.

Mrs Roberts, who has taken unpaid leave from her position as mayor of the City of Wanneroo, said the funding would be provided to build a new synthetic bowling green.

The upgrade would enable the club to operate both bowling greens all year round – with synthetic green being viable for action in the winter.

“Quinns Rocks Sports Club has always welcomed me and my family with open arms,’’ she said.

“I competed in corporate bowls last season and loved every second.

“This club is truly a welcoming community club and I am very honoured to be able to secure this well-earned funding commitment.”

Quinns Rock Sports Club vice president Roger Thomas said the improvements would give the club the ability to play all year round.

“It requires near zero maintenance and is the way forward for bowling clubs, we are so excited,’’ he said.
