TWO Rocks marina will host the inaugural Channel 7 Get Reel Two Rocks Fishing competition and family fun day presented by Atlantis Beach estate on Saturday, May 1 with plans for it to become one of the biggest recreational fishing events in the State over the coming years.
This major community event, which will feature one of the world’s largest mobile aquariums, is expected to attract widespread interest as recreation fishing is now one of the State’s most popular pastimes with an estimated one third of the population fishing recreationally.
Two Rocks is already a very popular fishing destination in Western Australia and the holding of this fishing festival will prove popular with the thousands of people who visit the area each year for recreational fishing.
The Channel 7 Get Reel Two Rocks Fishing competition will split into three categories: Boating Angler, Senior Shore and Junior Shore – with multiple prizes available in each category awarded to the entrant with the fish closest to a mystery weight.
A major prize of a $2500 Anaconda Voucher will also be presented to whoever catches the heaviest Dhufish on the day.
Anyone wishing to register for this major fishing competition should visit the webpage for the event at www.getreeltworocks.com.au
Jarrod Rendell, Project Director for Atlantis Beach Estate said that the event will be a great day out for families.
“Atlantis Beach is delighted to partner with Channel 7 to bring this inaugural fishing competition to Two Rocks and believe that over the coming years it will prove to be a major fishing festival in Western Australia,’’ he said.
“Channel 7 will be heavily involved in the event with a number of their TV personalities present on the day including Fat Cat.
“Children can even try their hand at TV reporting with Channel 7 generously providing a Sea Container Activation, complete with a newsroom for tours.
“The event will be complete with live music, a bar area overlooking the stunning marina, market stalls to check out, and delicious food trucks.
“If your focus is on fishing, the event will have fishing games and live fishing demonstrations from the Aquatank alongside the official competition.
“The Aquatank, one of the world’s largest mobile aquariums, is one of only two of its kind in Australia.
The tank is over 40ft long, contains 14,000 litres of water and weighs in at an impressive 19 tonnes when it’s full of water and fish.
“There will be plenty for the kids to do during the festival, with live mermaids and pirates, face painting and mermaid braiding, and a mechanical surfboard plus a whole lot more.’’
