AN upgrade to wastewater infrastructure in Two Rocks and Yanchep is on track to be completed by the end of 2018, according to the Water Corporation.

At a Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association meeting on Monday, July 23 some residents said they had heard the project was behind schedule.

But Water Corporation spokeswoman Lousie Fleming said the upgrade, which was to cater for population growth within the City of Wanneroo, was due to be completed by the end of this year as originally planned.

The project involves construction of 4.2 kilometres of wastewater main, starting near the Two Rocks Shopping Centre at the intersection of Lisford Avenue and Sovereign Drive, and continues south along Two Rocks Road.

She said the work started in January and almost 3km of the wastewater main had been completed, with about 1km on Lisford Ave still to be constructed.

“We are also in the final stages of constructing a 1km section of wastewater main within the road reserve of the future extension of Marmion Ave in Yanchep,’’ she said.

“The new below ground wastewater pump station on Charnwood Reserve and the upgrade of the existing Abrolhos Close wastewater pump station are in the early stages of construction.
