Warning about smoke from rubbish fire on Flynn Dr

THERE is a rubbish fire on Flynn Dr in the City of Wanneroo, which is resulting in potentially dangerous smoke blowing in a southerly direction.

At 12.25pm the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said people south and south west of Flynn Dr in Neerabup, Carramar, Tapping and Banksia Grove may be affected by smoke or fumes.

A DFES spokeswoman said 26 firefighting appliances were on the scene with crews from Butler, Wangara, Wanneroo, Joondalup, Malaga, Duncraig, Bullsbrook and Belmont.

DFES said as a precautionary measure, people in the area should remain inside, out of the smoke or fumes, with doors and windows closed.

The fire was reported at 12.10pm.

Air conditioners should also be switched off.

People should stay away from the area and those in the area already should take advice from emergency services personnel.
