IT’S a blast from the past in your own backyard – the City of Wanneroo is bringing Retro Rewind back to Yanchep National Park from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday, March 9.
A funky fête of all things retro, this family-friendly, rose-tinted event will feature everything from vintage fashion and music to classic hot rods and a swathe of market stalls.
Headlining the afternoon is eight-piece ensemble Hornography, whose jazzy tunes reminiscent of James Brown and Marvin Gaye are guaranteed to get the dance floor grooving.
Swing your hips and tap your toes to the rockin’ rhythms of Peta Lee and the Sultanas of Swing, and the rockabilly tunes of The Rough Housers.
As an extra treat, this year will also feature the foxy and colourful Beehives Go-Go Dancers!
With a pin-up parade, show and shine and vintage exhibitors from The Vintage Collective Markets selling their wares, as well as free children’s entertainment including arcade games, face painting and a bouncy castle, this is one family fun event that is not to be missed.
With entry to Yanchep National Park free from midday, City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said she was hoping for a big turnout.
“Strap on your dancing shoes – we can’t wait to see you there for an afternoon of swing,” she said.
Retro Rewind is supported by The Vintage Collective Markets, Channel 9, North Coast Weekender, Parks and Wildlife WA and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Wildlife.
