YANCHEP Police want to hear from residents if they noticed anything suspicious before a scrub fire started near the lagoon on Saturday, March 5.
A WA Police spokeswoman said Yanchep Police were investigating and want anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the scrub fire was reported about 10pm.
A spokesman said 12 appliances attended the scrub fire off Brazier Rd and had it contained by 10.32pm, controlled by 11pm and extinguished by 2am.
Crews patrolled the area throughout the rest of the night.
Career firefighters from Butler and Joondalup were among those in attendance as were volunteers from the Wanneroo bush fire brigade and the Yanchep volunteer and fire rescue service.
He said when the firefighters deemed the fire to be suspicious they handed it over to police.
