Businesses wanting to join the Starlight Children’s Foundation event in Yanchep next month can still register until Friday, June 16.

THE Starlight Children’s Foundation is on the lookout for companies to take part in its 60-80km corporate challenge, the Great Adventure Challenge on Saturday, July 29 in the Yanchep area.

Starlight WA state partnerships manager Jayne Graham said the fun-filled Starlight event which takes place at various mystery locations across the nation is being held in Western Australia for the third year with the aim of raising $140,000 which will give 3500 Western Australian children and families access to Starlight’s programs including the Starlight Express Rooms and Captain Starlight.

“Each month there are over 1000 visits by children and their families to the Starlight Express Rooms at Princess Margaret Hospital and Captain Starlight visits a further 400 children on hospital wards who are too sick to leave their beds,’’ she said.

“To meet this growing demand for Starlight’s programs, each participating team of eight is encouraged to fundraise $10,000 which will go towards helping sick kids.

“Companies might choose to compete directly alongside competitors for some friendly rivalry or enter joint teams with business partners to build stronger working relationships.

“Either way, it’s guaranteed fun and funds raised will directly benefit the local community.

“For fairness and to keep it a mystery, the location and the actual course is not revealed until the night before the event.

“A typical course will involve eight legs with transition stops in between to recharge, refuel and rotate the squad.

“There are also various challenges to test the boundaries of both the brain and body – challenges may include mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, coasteering, mystery tasks and navigation.

“Although it sounds gruelling, team members do not need to be a professional athlete to participate.’’

The Great Adventure Challenge is about ordinary people working, training, and competing together as a team to achieve extraordinary results – and have a whole lot of fun while doing it.

Teams already registered for 2017 include Azure, BIS and KPMG – all of which have participated in the previous two Great Adventure Challenge events that have been held in WA.

Registration closes on Friday, 16 June 2017 so lace up those sneakers. To register your team or for more information about the Great Adventure Challenge contact Starlight WA partnerships executive Laura Harvey on 08 9460 9012 or  email  laura.harvey@starlight.org.au
