YANCHEP Police have identified an increase in stealing from motor vehicle offences across Alkimos, Eglinton, Yanchep and Two Rocks.

WA Police said work vehicles were being specifically targeted, particularly within residential areas, with offenders forcing entry into vehicle canopies, toolboxes and storage compartments to steal tools and trade-related equipment.

Police said they were actively investigating the offences and remained committed to disrupting and preventing this type of offending within the community.

They encourage all community members to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious behaviour.

Tradespersons and business owners are encouraged to maintain records of their tools and equipment, including serial numbers, photographs and identifying markings.

Where possible, it is encouraged that tools should be engraved or otherwise marked with unique identifiers to assist police in identifying and recovering stolen property.

Vehicle owners are further encouraged to secure work vehicles within locked compounds, garages, or other secure facilities whenever possible and ensure valuables are not left unsecured.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity, or has information relating to these offences, is urged to contact police on 131 444, or Crime Stoppers via www.crimestopperswa.com.au or 1800 333 000.

Reports to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously.
