YANCHEP Police are targeting Alkimos drivers who do the wrong thing when trying to enter Marmion Ave from Shorehaven Blvd.

At a Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association meeting on Monday, May 22 Yanchep Police officer-in-charge Sgt Chris Wride said some drivers were putting themselves and others in danger in their efforts to get onto Marmion Ave.

Sgt Wride said due to many complaints about dangerous drivers police would have a patrol car and an electronic sign warning motorists not to break the law at the intersection.

On Thursday, May 25 Yanchep Police tweeted two drivers had been given infringements despite the electronic warning sign reminding drivers to obey the law.

One driver was issued an infringement notice for doing a U-turn when it was not safe to do so.

The Shorehaven Blvd and Marmion Ave intersection is one of the few intersections in the Yanchep area not to have a roundabout, which makes it difficult for motorists to get onto Marmion Ave during peak periods.

Residents started asking for a roundabout or right-hand turn traffic arrow back in 2015.
