THERE will be an open day held at the Yanchep Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday, October 27.
Yanchep Volunteer Fire and Rescue secretary Eva Darby said the volunteers will be cooking a sausage sizzle throughout the day and selling soft drinks.
“We will be demonstrating how to use the jaws of life on a car and extracting a casualty,’’ she said.
A bouncy castle will be available from 10 am and children will have the opportunity to sit in the fire truck and take pictures and spray water with the hoses.
The volunteer firefighters will also be doing tours of the station.
There will be raffles on the day – one of them being a $100 dinner voucher for the new pub-restaurant The Landing Alkimos.
“We also have a $40 BCF voucher to be raffled off and we are going to be doing a big recruitment push for new volunteers as well.’’
The open day to be held at 11 Bracknell St, Yanchep runs from 10am to 3pm.
