
FAYE Shardlow has been named the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association citizen of the year.
Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association president Julie Otremba said Faye Shardlow was a quiet achiever who had been awarded for her dedication to her community.
She has been a Country Women’s Association member since 1990 – a Two Rocks districts CWA member since 1999).
“Faye also works hard behind the scenes for the Yanchep Two Rocks Recreation Association with their events and sausage sizzles and is now the fundraising officer for the Two Rocks Yanchep Assisted Cancer Travel group (TRYACT),’’ Mrs Otremba said.
“Faye is a lovely person dedicated to improving her community and does this with no fuss and lots of laughs.’’
The association named the Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association as group of the year for their willingness to tackle issues in the area for and on behalf of the residents of the community of Yanchep and Two Rocks.
“They have been helping the residents for 40 years,’’ she said.
Youth achiever of the year was awarded to Ryan Koch.
Mrs Otremba said Ryan was a quiet young man who undertakes his sporting activities (football and athletics) and academics with enthusiasm and was always trying to improve.
“Ryan has received numerous awards for his schoolwork,’’ she said. “A young man who sets a good example to his younger team mates and his peers.’’
An Australia Day medallion was awarded to Tammy Maloney for her dedication to the Yanchep Junior Football Club for more than 10 years.
A community recognition medallion for volunteering was awarded to David Haynes a longtime volunteer with the Yanchep Two Rocks Recreation Association and Yanchep Little Athletics and a former volunteer with the sea rescue group.
Brooke Turner and Dorothy Dean also received medallions for their work on the events for the 40th anniversary and Sunset Markets for the association.
