A BUSHFIRE advice – monitor conditions – is in place for the area bounded by Desert Rd, Sappers Rd, west of Indian Ocean Dr, Collins Way, Hamersley Rd and the coastline in Lancelin.
In an alert at 3.09pm the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said there was no threat to lives or homes.
DFES is managing the bushfire, which was reported at 1.15pm and firefighters are actively fighting the fire.
The bushfire is moving in a southerly direction and is not contained or controlled.
What to do:
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
- Read through your plan and decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA, or in the Emergency WA app
- Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Close all doors and window and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422).

If driving
- Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
- If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
Roads have not been closed.
Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan.
