Bushfire advice for southwest part of Carabooda

A BUSHFIRE advice is in place for people in parts of Alkimos, Butler and Carabooda.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said the bushfire, which started near the intersection of Romeo Rd and Wanneroo Rd in Carabooda, was reported at 5.17pm.

The bushfire is moving fast in a westerly direction and is out of control and unpredictable.

The alert said for people to:

  • Stay alert and monitor their surroundings.
  • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
  • Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
  • Read through their bushfire survival plan.
  • If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.

The alert said firefighters were on the scene, strengthening containment lines.

It is being managed by the City of Wanneroo.
