Chloe Hubbard is doing a hospitality traineeship with Chocolate Drops while also attending Yanchep Secondary College.

AS well doing all the everyday jobs necessary to run the award winning Chocolate Drops owner Sue Dash also supervises a Yanchep student undertaking a hospitality traineeship.

While completing a school-based traineeship Chloe Hubbard spends one day a week at Chocolate Drops where she gets valuable practical experience and guidance on her theory modules.

An assessor from MEGT regularly visits to check the 16-year-old’s progress as she works to gain her Hospitality Certificate III.

The Yanchep Secondary College student’s traineeship was organised through the Jobs and Skills WA Employer Incentive, which makes it easier for employers such as Chocolate Drops to take on trainees and apprentices.

Chloe, who also works at Chocolate Drops as a casual on weekends and during the school holidays, enjoys her work and the traineeship.

“I really enjoy it – there’s all sorts of stuff you can do,’’ she said.

“Most of it is fun (and) it’s like you’re not really working.’’

Her favourite task is making drinks especially coffees, milkshakes, iced coffees and iced chocolate.

Ms Dash said Chloe and her other staff have all completed a City of Wanneroo online Food Alert certificate.

This is the fifth traineeship opportunity Ms Dash has provided at her Yanchep National Park-based business.

Three staff also achieved China Ready & Accredited Individual Certification in 2014, which means they are registered with the Chinese government and its tourism body.

Ms Dash moved her handmade chocolate shop to the Tearooms at the Yanchep National Park in November 2005.

The chocolate shop focuses on an Australiana theme for its chocolates – including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, echidnas and dolphins as well as a selection of frogs.

Customers can also buy personalised made-to-order chocolate gifts, which can be themed for any special event.

Ms Dash likes applying bush theme to the tops of cakes or she can hand decorate a cake with a personalised message.

The tearooms has a back-to-basic light menu offering hot potatoes, chilli con carne nachos, toasted sandwiches and focaccias.

Devonshire teas, carrot cake and muffins are also available.

Ice creams are available from the kiosk attached to the tearooms.

Customers can dine in or take away.
