Concerns about woman who may have been in Ashby blast

WA Police have concerns about a woman who is believed to have been in a house in Ashby where there was an explosion this morning.

A police spokesman said just before 5.30am this morning police were alerted to an explosion at a house in Taplow Pde.

The occupants of the house left prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The police spokesman said a man had since attended a medical facility for treatment of burns but police were concerned for the welfare of a woman who was believed to have also been at the house at the time of the explosion and were urging her to contact them.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel extinguished the fire and are now working with arson squad investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

The house has been significantly damaged.
