DFES says contained bushfire suspicious

AN all clear has been issued for a bushfire near the Yanchep pine plantation but the cause of the bushfire has been deemed suspicious.

About 4.30pm WA Police told Yanchep News Online the Department of Fire and Emergency Services had said the cause of the bushfire was suspicious and police would assess the scene tomorrow.

People travelling near the Clover Rd and Santago Rd intersection need to drive slowly and with caution due to smoke and emergency services personnel working in the area.

At 3.57pm the Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions said the bushfire, which was reported at 9.25am, had burnt 3.5ha near the Yanchep pine plantation in the City of Wanneroo and the Shire of Gingin.

The bushfire has been contained and is under control but firefighters will monitor the area for the rest of the day-night.

Although the danger has passed but people need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.
