THE Shire of Gingin says it has appointed a new chief executive officer Scott Wildgoose for a term of three years starting on October 21 with Aaron Cook staying on as acting CEO until then.
Mr Cook will also take on the acting chief executive officer role when the CEO takes leave for an already booked holiday at the end of the year.
President Wayne Fewster said Mr Wildgoose, who is the current Shire of Morawa chief executive officer, would bring considerable local government experience to the role having also undertaken senior management positions with the Shire of Narembeen and the cities of Joondalup and Rockingham.
Cr Fewster congratulated Mr Wildgoose on his appointment.
“The elected members, shire staff and community are all looking forward to working with him and we wish Scott every success in the role,’’ he said.
Mr Wildgoose will be relocating to Gingin with his wife Rebecca and their two children.
“I am excited to commence the role, and I’m looking forward to meeting and working with the Shire of Gingin community and staff,” Mr Wildgoose said.
Cr Fewster expressed his sincere thanks to Mr Cook for his six years of committed service to the shire.
“As the new chief executive officer’s commencement is a few months away, the council has asked Aaron to stay on as acting chief executive officer until Scott’s start date in October,’’ he said.
“We have also asked Aaron to fill in for a short duration while Scott takes a pre-booked holiday with his family over Christmas and New Year, which he has agreed to and for which we are very appreciative.”
As per requirements of the model Standards for CEO recruitment, performance and termination as set out in schedule 2 of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996, recruitment of the new CEO was overseen by a CEO recruitment panel committee which consisted of four councillors, an external human resources consultant and an independent qualified member of the public.
